Getting a great tattoo is always the goal. But if your goal is to pay a lesser amount to a lesser artist, you are inevitably volunteering for a lesser tattoo. What one should do, is pursue the tattoo from the original artist. A tattoo is more than just the content of the image. It is style, composition, color theory & application, technique, and so much more.
Some may think they can provide a comparable product. Believe it will be lacking in glaringly obvious ways. The best thing to do, is to seek out the original artist. Allow them to create something new and amazing for you. Save up funds if you have to because the re-touch/cover up will also cost you. Still not resulting in what you really wanted.
