DO YOU HAVE A TATTOO THAT WAS ABANDONED BY ANOTHER STUDIO?
It happens. Sometimes a tattoo is abandoned by another studio or artist. The reasoning can vary. Maybe the artist moved away or the studio shut down. Both studios and artists come and go, unfortunately. Fortunately for everyone, Lucky Bamboo Tattoo has been around for over 16 years. It’s a very good sign when a tattoo shop can stay in business.
You may wonder, why would a tattoo shop shut down, and often suddenly without any warning? Sadly, one of the major issues is due to standards not being met according to the Health Department , or downright poor conditions. If a shop is really bad, they aren’t given a two week period to clean up and stay open at the same time. They’re usually ordered to shut down immediately. The same thing happens to food establishments. Sometimes the requirements to reopen are so great, financially, the owners opt to just stay closed instead.
Another sad reason why some shops shut down so suddenly is due to not being able to pay the bills. Most studio owners don’t like to advertise they’re struggling because it will usually work against them. They know that the optics of them not being able to get business looks overall bad. However, a sign you can look for is desperation. If a shop is appearing desperate to get you booked, especially by dramatically dropping prices, there’s a good chance their place is about to go under. If you can’t pay the rent, you lose your lease.
The unfortunate casualty of this happening is the client. Not only are they out of getting their tattoo, they are very likely out of the money they put down as well. Unless they can hire people to hunt down the people that owe them money, and can afford to take them to court, there’s not a lot they can do about it.
However, at Lucky Bamboo Tattoo, our Artist Design Fee form protects not just the studio and artist, but it also protects the client. It’s a contract between us and the them. We will fulfill our end of the agreement, just as they agree to fulfill theirs. We’ll never just bail on a client, leaving them high and dry.
We here at LBT, hear surprisingly often, that a client is having a hard time getting in touch with their artist at some other studio regarding a tattoo they’re trying to get finished. They’ll reach out to the studio and directly and to the artist via social media without any results. No wonder they feel abandoned, just like their abandoned tattoo. Lucky Bamboo has multiple failsafes to make sure nobody slips through the cracks. Customer outreach and response is the top priority to our studio associate. All other tasks are dropped if a client needs help.
Some artists are nomadic and like to just stay at one studio for a year, and then move onto another experience. It’s not uncommon and is no reflection on that artist. It’s just how they like to do it. Other artists like to travel with the convention circuit, which can take them all over the US and often outside the country, making it quite difficult to locate them. Then, there’s the unfortunate fact that some artists are just not cut out for it and either quit or get fired.
Whatever the reason is for your abandoned tattoo, any of our artists would be happy to help you complete your tattoo. Because of the nature of completing unfinished work, it’s likely our artists would like to have a consult with you to take a look at the existing work and to discuss exactly what you are looking to get done to make the art come out as you wanted originally. Our artists will want some artistic freedom, but will certainly take all of your input into consideration. Your overall happiness is paramount and very important to them.
