TATTOO COVER-UPS ARE QUITE COMMON
Cover-ups. Many of us need them or already have had one. Unfortunately, it’s not always easy. Sometimes a factor, or two can make doing a cover-up a challenge, even for the most talented tattoo artists.
If your existing tattoo is too dark, this can seriously limit what an artist can do to cover it up. A possible solution is to get something even darker and bolder. Another possibility would be for the artist, with multiple sessions, apply lighter opaque inks to slowly fade out the original tattoo from the new one. Another idea would be to just touch-up and improve on the current tattoo, instead of completely covering it.
If your current tattoo is just really really big, and want it covered up, this can seem like an impossible task. If you were looking to cover up, say a sleeve, that can be very tricky. Much like with the previously mentioned very dark tattoos, you may have to go even darker and bolder. A series of sessions of light opaque ink can help develop a new idea. It would also be possible to keep elements of the existing tattoo, but add to them and touch them up.
Severe scarring. If you were looking to not cover up a tattoo, but rather a big scar, the task can be daunting, but not impossible. Your scar does need to be a few years old before you can tackle it, but it can be done in most circumstances. A clever way to deal with scars is not to cover them, but to incorporate them into the tattoo.
Birthmarks are another so-called “blemish” that some people like to cover up. Whether they are truly a “blemish” is debatable. Many people embrace them as a part of who they are. One way to deal with birthmarks could be to do something similar to a recommendation for scars, incorporate them into a tattoo idea. Many birthmarks have been included like this, and often to some very creative ideas.
